Important 4 reasons why many people fail in marketing.

I've read a lot of posts articles on this topic and think this content has something important to say.

The GOOD NEWS is that new marketers fail for predictable reasons. If you can avoid those reasons, you can be successful online.

And that’s where this blog post comes in.

Ok… So here goes.

This post is going to be straight to the point. No sugar coating.

You might agree with me about the wisdom below. If not, move on to destination where 90% of work is designed for you.

Reason #1 = You Don’t Have a Website

There are loads of tools and courses out there that brag about not needing a website or hosting. I want you to know that they’re LYING to you. It’s profitable to tell people that something is easy. It’s not profitable to tell people that something takes a bit of work.

That’s why you won’t find a bunch of marketers telling you to get a website running.

They don’t care.

But let me ask you this…

Have you ever heard of a single person making a living online WITHOUT a website?

It just doesn’t happen.

I’ve been in the marketing business for over 8 years now, and I can’t think of a SINGLE example.

There are many reasons to build your own website. There’s not even one reason to put this step off.

You might need a website to:

  • Host a landing page
  • Create a blog
  • Set up niche sites
  • Be the go-to-guy

At the end of the day, everything starts and ends with a website.

Get one ASAP.

Reason #2 – You’re Not Helping People

I’m an email marketer.

You probably know that, and have subscribed to my email list before.

There’s always one thing I tell people that SHOCKS them.

I’m about to share it with you, so keep your shorts clean.

My autoresponder sequence contains 210+ emails.

This is also known as the “follow-up series” and they are the messages that subscribers get after opting in.

That’s not the shocking part yet, although over 200 is a lot.

The shocking part is when I tell people which email makes the most money.

In most of my emails, I’m either selling something directly, or proving a tutorial that indirectly compensates me in some way.

Message #6 is not selling anything. And it’s my most profitable email by far.

… You know why this email is the best?

It helps people.

When you help people make money online, they’ll reward you with loyalty for life.

Lots of times it takes just a couple minutes to answer someone’s question. And then shortly after, they’ll inquire about my coaching or buy things through my affiliate links.

I even get subscribers that email me because they want to give me the commission for a purchase.

You will probably underestimate the power of helping. 

It’s not your fault. You see wantrapreneur jokers all day long trying to make a quick buck by slamming links down your throat. The reality is that people buy from real people (or brands) they know and trust.

Start helping people.

Even something as simple as learning how to set up web hosting can make you hundreds or thousands per month.

Did you know that HostGator pays affiliates up to $125 per hosting sale?

That means that you could help somebody set up hosting for about 10 minutes, and end up making a smooth $125 commission.

Talk about a good income per hour.

Reason #3 – You’re Jumping Instead of Fine-Tuning

This is a really big one. The truth

And I did it in the beginning as well. The results were devastating.

When you learn how to do something new online, the instinct is to keep looking for something else.

There are a couple reasons for this behaviour, but the main one is that a new strategy is not going to be successful right away.

Rome wasn’t built in a day. Your online business won’t be either.

Whether your thing is list buildingblogging or creating niche sites.

The key is to pick something, and then stick with it.

I’m a list builder.

Like every other email marketer, I learned the biz from scratch.

When I started list building a couple years ago, I used to lose my shirt.

I’d set up a funnel, buy some traffic and LOSE money.

It sounds terrible, right?

Well within three months, I was able to “fine-tune” and tweak things to make a profit.

Most of us know that if you can make a profit in list building — it’s game over.

If for every $1 you spend, you make $2. Well, you can build an unlimited subscriber list on near autopilot. But you’re not going to make it to that point overnight.

It’s the little things that make the BIG DIFFERENCE

I’ll bet you don’t hear that everyday.

Here’s an example.

In Aweber, there’s an option to set up where to redirect new subscribers.

I always tell new students that here’s your opportunity to make back your ad spend.

So the most common choice is either to use a “thank you page” or send to an “instant offer”

My preference is to the latter.

But a common mistake that most people make is they set up the “Thank You Page” option, but ignore the “Already Subscribed” feature.

Now this isn’t a HUGE deal.

But not changing the “Already Subscribed” page is leaving money on the table.

It’s small tweaks like these that make the difference between making money and LOSING IT.

Over time, you should be able to tweak ONE asset enough to make a profit.

Focus on that. Don’t switch to something else.

Reason #4 – Information Overload

We live in an information age, and it’s spoiling your road to success.

Make no mistake. This is a problem.

Seth GodinSeth Godin said it years ago “Marketers are all liars”

Now maybe not ALL OF THEM are dishonest. But most will be sharing marketing “secrets” that are unused for a reason.

Remember that most people don’t make money online. But it’s profitable for business to pretend that you’re the man.

And to do that, you need to teach people.

The dangerous part is when unsuccessful marketers are telling you how to run a business.

If it didn’t work for them, it’s not going to work for you.

Yes, you should help people. I made a strong case for that in reason #2. But please people limit your help to things that you actually know about.

Anybody with half an hour on their hands could learn how to set up hosting.

Trying to tell somebody how to make $1,5xx.42 in the next 32 seconds is not something you learn in a day. Heck, it’s not something most learn in a lifetime.

The problem is that this information overload is inevitable.

You should only listen to advice from a mentor that you know you can trust.

It’s not rocket science. But it doesn’t include fluff or falsehoods either.

Whatever you do, make sure that you learn from someone that knows what they are talking about.

Otherwise you could waste years copying wantrapreneurs pretending to hold the “one secret” to owning lambo’s and expensive watches. And maybe even become one yourself.

Wrapping it Up

You may think you already know how to make money online.

Heck, you might even have made a buck or two.

You will not change your life until you stop these mistakes.

To be clear, these 4 reasons are common. They affect most us, and they even messed with me in the beginning. I wasted years moving around shiny new methods. Only to find out that I wasn’t going to get anywhere until I took action from someone that knows their stuff.
